Whiplash

Whiplash, known simply as a neck strain or neck sprain, occurs when the body is suddenly accelerated and then decelerated. Sensations of this nature often occur during car wrecks, damaging the discs, ligaments, muscles and/or nerves in the neck. This can potentially result in numerous uncomfortable symptoms. Austin Preferred Integrative Medicine has helped numerous patients overcome the effects of this condition while restoring health and functionality to the affected area(s).

Common Symptoms of Whiplash:

  • Neck pain or stiffness
  • Headaches
  • Pain in the shoulders
  • Back pain
  • Pain or numbness in the arms or hands
  • Dizziness
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Blurred vision
  • Cognitive difficulty
  • Irritability
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Fatigue
  • Jaw Pain

Many patients don’t experience symptoms for one or more days after the accident. It is important to the healing process to receive medical examination soon after symptoms arise, before the condition worsens.

Austin Preferred first brings patients in for a thorough initial evaluation to assess the nature and severity of the symptoms. A personalized treatment plan, often combining Chiropractic Care, Physical Therapy and Medical Services, will then be generated. Common treatment modalities for whiplash include joint mobilization techniques, MLS Laser Therapy, Spinal Adjustments and the Active Release Technique, among others. Our integrated approach treats the source of the patient’s pain while restoring health and functionality in the affected area(s).
