Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome occurs when the Median Nerve, which runs from the spine through the arm, becomes pinched because of repetitive wrist motion. This condition, which is often the result of everyday activities such as typing or lifting objects, causes pain or numbness in the hands and/or arms. This can make routine motions painful for some individuals, hindering their ability to function through a normal daily routine.

Austin Preferred Integrative Medicine commonly treats patients with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and has achieved positive outcomes using several different techniques. Patients will first meet with one of our medical providers for an initial evaluation before a treatment plan is determined. Austin Preferred usually recommends non-invasive techniques including wrist splints, manual exercises, chiropractic care, physical therapy and the Graston Technique. Occasionally, our Nurse Practitioner will prescribe more aggressive treatments like anti-inflammatory medications or injections.

At Austin Preferred, our staff works closely with each patient to accurately diagnose and treat the source of the issue. Our approach has helped numerous patients avoid surgery to correct Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in the past. For more information on possible treatment options, please see our Services page.
