Is Medical Weight Loss Right for You?
Medical weight loss is the process of losing weight with the help and guidance of a healthcare professional. Your provider uses their knowledge and medical experience to help the individual attempting to lose weight to create a realistic plan that meets their unique circumstances. They may also perform a diagnostic workup to ensure that there are no other medical conditions complicating or hindering weight loss.
Medical Weight Loss Consultations
During your first visit, you will meet with a provider to discuss your weight loss goals. The provider will use a body composition analysis scale to help determine your ideal weight as well as your ideal caloric intake. Laboratory studies may be recommended at this time. If laboratory studies are recommended, we will give you a plan to optimize your health before attempting weight loss once we receive your results. The provider will work with you to create a plan that will help you to achieve your goals, while also working with your lifestyle.
Lifestyle Changes
Rather than recommending a specific diet program that involves extreme caloric restriction, completely cutting out a macronutrient, or eating from a narrow list of foods, we give you tools to eat intuitively. This allows for you to be successful not only with weight loss, but with overall wellness long term. We also will recommend increasing your overall level of physical activity in whatever way you enjoy best, and can guide you with an exercise program if desired.
Weight Loss Medications
Certain medications can be prescribed to help complement the lifestyle changes that are recommended. Weight loss medications are often given at the beginning of your weight loss journey, and are not intended to be the only method of weight loss used.
Support Throughout the Process
Weight loss is difficult on your own, that’s why you will set up follow up visits to monitor your progress and make changes if necessary to help you to be successful.
