Nutrigenomic Testing

What Is Nutrigenomic Testing?

Have you ever wondered why dieting or the supplements
you’re taking don’t have the desired effects? According to research, up to 75% of people have significant genetic variations that affect vital bodily processes. These include metabolism, detoxification, the immune system and many more.

Nutrigenomic testing helps patients identify these variations while offering more context for certain health issues. The insights from these tests also allow people to make more informed lifestyle choices for enhanced wellness. The healthcare providers at Austin Preferred Integrative Medicine also use Nutrigenomic testing in Austin to gain more insight into patients’ genetic makeup, which allows them to design more efficient plans of care.

Because Austin Preferred’s holistic approach focuses on using natural solutions to relieve pain, these tests can play a valuable role in improving patients’ overall wellness. Moreover, they can provide helpful insights for people looking to better understand the impact of genetics on overall wellness.

Consultations

We will first have each patient in for an initial visit to discuss testing options. Austin Preferred happily offers an extensive test menu suited to people looking for specific answers, as well as those who desire a more comprehensive glance at their genetics. This allows us to better understand our patients’ health, which allows our providers to create truly personalized plans of care.

Next, we will collect a saliva sample from the patient and send it to our specialized lab for analysis. We usually receive the test results back within 14 business days and have the patient back in to discuss them with the provider.
